I had the lovely privilege of photographing a surprise engagement on January 24th, 2020 at Elbow Falls in Bragg Creek near Kananaskis. When Andre first connected with me about his anniversary shoot turned surprise engagement, I was ecstatic! I couldn’t wait to get off the phone with Andre and begin planning possible locations here in the Canadian Rockies for him to ask Nadia to be his forever partner in this crazy adventure we call life.
Andre was very nervous, and for good reason! This is a nerve-wracking time of life for anyone. After I suggested four options for the location of the surprise engagement, Andre settled on Elbow Falls. It was a perfect choice as the location would be quiet, being wintertime, and they would be able to have some intimate moments to themselves during the session.
Andre and Nadia had been living two years apart, which meant a long-distance relationship, as Nadia is from Europe. Andre wrote letters to Nadia while they were apart, and the first letter of each handwritten love note spelled out the question “Will you marry me?”.
This was such a special day for these two, and I am so thankful for being a part of Andre’s master plan for this engagement shoot! My congratulations go out to these two love-birds, and I wish them the best in their bright future together as Mr and Mrs!
